When you are ordering new furniture from Barrow Clark, you have to decide what you are going to do with your old furniture. We are pleased to be able to offer our own collection and recycling service, where we can take away your old furniture upon delivery of your new furniture for a small pre-arranged fee. Alternatively, North Devon Hospice offers a free charity collection service for pre-loved items in good condition, or you can use your local council's disposal services. Please see below for more information.
Barrow Clark Furniture Collection and Recycling Service
Barrow Clark is proud to be able to offer our customers a furniture recycling and collection service. This is a chargeable service additional to a new purchase with Barrow Clark and is subject to the items that you require be removed. We can organise for your existing furniture (e.g. existing Mattress) to be collected when we deliver your new items (e.g. new Mattress). Please contact us in advance to confirm the items you are looking to have disposed of when purchasing new furniture with us.
Barrow Clark are committed in supporting our environment and have invested in a waste handling licence and facilities to dispose of old furniture items. This service runs alongside our delivery service but is a separate contract beyond normal service of delivery and removing packaging of new furniture. Tipping/disposal/recycling costs have dramatically changed due to Government environmental targets and goods have to be handled in a rigorous and specific way (based on weight, size and type of waste) (Covid Protocol to be followed). The convenience of our two-person delivery team simultaneously collecting items, transporting goods away and recycling or moving goods on is a service customers very much appreciate. Example (not exhaustive) Costs:
Single Item - £69
Examples: King/Super-king mattress Only / Sofa-bed / Reclining Chair or Power Sofa (just one) / Large Table / Static Armchair / Single Bed / Double Mattress / Small Static Sofa / Small Dining Table / Set of 4 Dining Chairs / Metal or Wood Bedframe Collection only (customer already dismantled no mattress)
Multiple Items - Price on Request (But some examples for a guide)

Carpet and Flooring Disposal - Full service available - Price on request
Barrow Clark regretfully have a policy of no second delivery - we are not able to deliver customer furniture to another property or third party (including charities) due to insurance and liability reasons.
Please note - once items are paid for and collected for disposal - they are strictly non-returnable and will be disposed of. Customers must accept once undertaking this separate disposal service contract with Barrow Clark - goods cannot be reclaimed, collected, or returned. This disposal service is only available when purchasing new furniture or flooring from Barrow Clark, but is not a condition of the original contract with Barrow Clark with regard to purchasing new furniture and this disposal service is a separate service contract and changes in the disposal of old furniture cannot be used to cancel an original purchase of furniture. Barrow Clark reserve the right to cancel or abandon collection and disposal services for health, hygiene and safety reasons and this decision is a separate contract of service to the purchase of new goods from Barrow Clark (i.e. the refusal of Barrow Clark to collect an old item of furniture due to health, hygiene and safety reasons does not give a customer the right to cancel any other contract(s) with Barrow Clark for this reason).

North Devon Hospice - Furniture Collection Service
An alternative option would be to contact North Devon Hospice directly to arrange for a FREE collection of your pre-loved furniture. They will collect directly from your home and your items will then be sold in one of their Furniture Shops to raise money for the vital care they offer local families.
As your furniture will be resold to support the Hospice, it does require items being clean, in good working order and free from significant damage or wear. All upholstered or soft furnishings must also have Fire Safety labels attached.
Convenient and hassle free, this service is a great way to make a real difference locally, giving your pre-loved furniture a second life whilst also supporting the incredible work of the Hospice.

North Devon Council - Bulky Item Collection Service
You can also contact the local council to arrange for a special collection of your old furniture.
This is a kerbside collection service, meaning items will need to be cleaned and placed suitably outside your premises prior to collection as staff cannot enter your home. This service is chargeable and prices will depend on the size and weight of items needing to be collected.
The staff will handle your old furniture with care, ensuring that items are removed both safely and efficiently. As they use their own collection vehicles, this can be a convenient way to dispose of your unwanted items that you are unable to transport yourself.
